Motamayez — IoT ticketing for a bus fleet

NFC cards read on board, a tablet app for the driver, a wallet in the rider's app, and one dashboard tracking every bus.

The problem

Collecting fares on a bus is a hardware problem, a payments problem and an operations problem at once: the card has to be read on a moving vehicle, the rider has to be able to top up before boarding, and the operator has to know where the fleet is and what it took today.

What I did

One system across the three: NFC cards read by the on-board device, a driver-facing tablet app for the trip, a rider app that holds the wallet and pays the fare, and a dashboard where the operator watches the fleet live.

Technical detail

The card is the ticket

NFC on board keeps boarding fast and works whether or not the passenger has a phone in hand at that moment.

Wallet before the trip

Riders top up in the mobile app and spend from that balance, so the fare is settled without cash on the bus.

The fleet on one screen

Every bus reports to the same dashboard, which is where tracking, trips and takings are read.

Where it stands

The system is in service with the operator. No ridership or revenue figures are published here; none have been shared for publication.
